Your Filler Treatment Plan
Schedule your filler appointment at least two weeks before a special event. Redness, swelling and bruising may be apparent in that time period.
Avoid any dental cleanings two weeks before and any dental procedures four weeks before filler treatment.
To minimize bruising or bleeding, we recommend discontinuing the use of aspirin, NSAIDS, gingko biloba, garlic, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, flax oil, cod liver oil, vitamin A, vitamin E or any other essential fatty acids at least three days to one week before and after treatment. Talk to your primary physician before discontinuing any medications.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplements and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your filler treatment. These may increase your risk of bruising and swelling.
Starting arnica or bromelain supplements at least two days before injections may help with bruising.
Let your provider know if you have a history of cold sores. An antiviral may be prescribed.
You may not have an active infection or rash in the area being treated.
You may not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
