Your BBL HEROic Treatment Plan

Schedule your BBL photofacial appointment at least two weeks before a special event. Redness, swelling and pigmentation may be apparent in that time period.
Let your provider know if you have a history of cold sores. An antiviral may be prescribed.
You may not have an active rash in the area being treated.
Discontinue any photo-sensitizing medications or drugs (i.e. doxycycline, minocycline) at least 72 hours before treatment.
You’ll need to avoid Accutane for six months prior to treatment.
You’ll need to avoid sun tanning, tanning beds and self-tanners for two weeks before treatment.
You’ll need to avoid waxing for one week before treatment.
If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, we require clearance from your OB-GYN.
We’ll apply a clear gel to the area being treated and protective eyewear.
We’ll then zap any unwanted skin concerns – this feels like a little rubber band snap and is quick!
We will assess skin throughout treatment to monitor for improvement.
We will then massage serums and SPF onto skin to hydrate and protect your new, bright complexion.
Redness, swelling and sensitivity might be present after a BBL photofacial and can last up to a few days.
Sleep face-up and slightly elevated to help with swelling.
Taking an oral antihistamine may also help reduce swelling.
Do not pick or scratch at treated skin.
Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight for two weeks after BBL photofacial treatment.
Avoid heat (i.e., saunas, hot tubs) for 1-2 days.
You may restart your regular skin care routine immediately after a BBL photofacial. Wait 24 hours before using retinol and chemical or physical exfoliants.
If exposed to the sun, always use broad spectrum SPF 30+ and reapply every two hours.
Treated pigment will turn darker (brown to black) within 24-48 hours. This will exfoliate off the face within about one week and off the body within about 2-3 weeks.
Treated vascular lesions may have a “bug bite” appearance and usually resolve in one to two days.
